Angel Island to host “Gateway to the Pacific” Living History Event

Angel Island State Park will host “Gateway to the Pacific” – A living history event, on Saturday and Sunday, October 26 and 27, from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Camp Reynolds. The event highlights Angel Island and its role in the Spanish-American and Philippine-American Wars of 1899-1902.

Re-enactors will interpret the lives of soldiers and civilians of the time. Park interpreters and docents will be on hand to discuss details of the war, exhibit period equipment and weapons, and demonstrate original hand-crank sewing machines and other home crafts of the era spotlighting civilian life back at home.

The 2013 Marin Magazine’s Editor’s Choice Award follows Captain Maggie McDonogh and the Angel Island Tiburon Ferry crew receiving The American Red Cross Life Saving Organization Hero Award, and Bank of Marin’s 2012 Business of the Year distinction. In addition, Captain Maggie McDonough was named 2012 Business Women of The Year by NorthBay Business Journal. Angel Island Tiburon Ferry has also been acknowledged as one of California’s “top 8 ferry trips” by Sunset Magazine, and a 1-Tank Day Trip by CBS 5.
