U.S.C.G. Certified Captain Maggie McDonogh of the Angel Island – Tiburon Ferry offers, “The California State Park’s ‘Fist Day Hikes’ offers a great opportunity for families and individuals to ‘unplug’ from technology and get outside to enjoy some good old fashioned fun in our beautiful state parks. McDonogh adds, We are so fortunate to have so many amazing state parks nearby to enjoy anytime we are looking for a ‘nature fix,’ and everyone really should at some point plan to visit Angel Island State Park via our storybook town of Tiburon, Calif. to discover why it has earned the title ‘Jewel of San Francisco Bay.”
What to bring: Since the weather can change rather suddenly out on San Francisco Bay, always plan to dress in warm layers. A wide brimmed hat, sunglasses and sunscreen, water bottle, snacks and some spending money are also good to bring. Naturally you will want to take a camera, and binoculars if you have them.
