Cultural performers include the following: Charlie Chin, singer and story teller; Francis Wong, musician and composer; Sinag-tala, a Filipino folk dance group; Tai Chi/Qi Gong demonstration; Art exhibit showcasing artworks from Cynthia Tom and Flo Oy Wong and more.
The Interfaith Coalition on Immigrant Rights will present two discussion workshops linking Angel Island’s history with contemporary immigration issues.
The seating will be festival style on grass, so please bring portable chairs and blankets. Please pick up your trash.
The Immigrant Heritage Wall was created through the donations of over 600 individuals, and over 350 immigrants are honored on the plaques. Many of the Chinese and Asian immigrants were among thousands detained at the Angel Island Immigration Station between 1910 and 1940 during the era of racially discriminatory immigration laws.
Parking
In Tiburon, there are various parking lots located all along Tiburon Blvd a few blocks from the ferry terminal. The price varies from around $5 -$15 for the day.
Shuttle/Tram Service on Angel Island
The Angel Island Company will offer a special discount rate of $3.00 round-trip on tram rides between Ayala Cove and the Immigration Station for seniors. All other passengers will be charged the regular rate of $5.00 round-trip. Tram tickets will be sold on the Blue and Gold Fleet on the 9:15 a.m. run from Pier 41, and riders will be issued wrist bands to allow you to board the tram. Tram tickets may also be purchased at the Angel Island Café at Ayala Cove.
Trams will leave from the Angel Island Cafe at Ayala Cove every 20 minutes from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Hiking
The Immigration Station is located 1.5 miles from Ayala Cove. You can walk to the Immigration Station or take the Angel Island tram.
Lunch on Angel Island
The Angel Island Company will offer bag lunches for advance purchase for $12.00. Bag lunches must be ordered and paid for by July 19. To order bag lunches, send an email to[email protected] . In the email, please include: name, phone number, menu choice, and how many. (No substitutions, please). You will be called back to process your credit card information securely over the phone. Please email any questions to [email protected] . Pre-paid lunches will be available at the US Immigration Station. Bag lunches will not be available for purchase on the day of the event; however the Cove Café in Ayala Cove will be open 10:00 AM- 4:00 PM.
